Meet the young chiefs

Revelstoke Fire Rescue Service is pleased to announce that Kyahna Hammond of Mountain View Elementary school and Clayton Willey of Mount Begbie Elementary School were this year's "Fire Chief for a Day” Winners. Kyahna and Clayton’s smoke alarm posters, illustrating their knowledge and understanding of smoke alarms, were chosen from 74 submissions. The kids were picked up at school on Thursday, October 28, in Fire Engine No. 1 and spent the afternoon as the City's fire chiefs. They received a tour of the fire hall, fire truck rides, prize packages and participated in fire department activities. The two young Fire Chiefs were then treated to a pizza lunch with Fire Chief Rob Girard (center) and the department’s career firefighters. Photo courtesy of Revelstoke Fire Rescue Service
