Talking turkey about transportation

Provincial Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Shirley Bond stopped by at City Hall on Wednesday morning for discussions with Mayor David Raven about local transportation concerns. Among the issues raised by His Worship was local frustration with the intersection of Victoria Road and the Trans-Canada Highway. Bond said the mayor pressed for a resolution of the problems associated with the intersection, widely regarded as nightmarish by Revelstokians. She was quite willing to hear his concerns. As to whether changes will be coming, that will require more discussion in the future. Raven said the morning's talks were useful and promised that he and the rest of Council will pursue them at the Union of British Columbia Municipalities Convention in Whistler Sept. 27-Oct. 1.
