For those in Revelstoke interested in learning about affordable housing, advocacy programs, employment or literacy service or if you are just looking for good food and fun, mark your calendars for Saturday September 18, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. That day Community Connections Food Bank and the Shuswap Columbia District Labour Council are organizing a free barbeque, fun activities and providing information about social services at the Revelstoke United Church.
There will be face painting, play dough, juggling and live music by The Rev as well as free hotdogs and hamburgers – donations are welcome.
According to Patty Larson, Outreach Services Manager at the Community Connections Food Bank, this event is “geared towards working families” to help them learn about the services that are available in town.
The organizers are partnering with Protein for People, an organization that provides tinned salmon to people in need. Tinned salmon is a desirable item for food banks because it is healthy and does not go bad quickly.
Community Connections will have an information booth at the Revelstoke Farmer’s Market on Saturday, September 11, to promote this event.
