Revelstoke RCMP members are currently at the scene of a three-vehicle motor vehicle collision 53 kilometers east of Revelstoke that has claimed the lives of three people.
“The preliminary investigation has indicated that a Ford Mustang had been westbound on the Trans-Canada Highway when it crossed the center line and clipped an eastbound Ford pickup truck,” Cpl. Rod Wiebe said in a statement. ” The pickup truck managed to gain control and safely stop. The Mustang lost control and collided head on with an eastbound Jeep Liberty which had been following the pickup truck.”
He said both occupants of the Mustang died at the scene as did an occupant in the Jeep Liberty. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
A collision reconstructionist is on scene. The highway remains closed however it is anticapted the highway will re-open in the next one-to-two hours.
This was the second fatal collision in Rogers Pass in three days. On Wednesday an Abbottsford man was killed and his wife was injured when their car collided with a transport truck near Loop Brook.
