The North Columbia Artists’ Cooperative is now seeking new members.

The NCAC, which operates the Art First! Gallery at 113 First Street, is looking for applications from two- and three-dimensional artists in Revelstoke or the region.

Coop Chairwoman Jackie Pendergast said the applicants’ work must be of the highest calibre.

“The cooperative is comprised of some of the best artists in Revelstoke,” she said. “Anyone wishing  to join the cooperative and exhibit their work at Art First! must submit an application form with images of recent works to the Exhibition Committee.  We are looking for artists whose work is of excellent quality and will complement the exisiting work in the Gallery. Art First! is already establishing itself as a successful venue for displaying and selling artwork”

The NCAC has 16 members: two jewellers, two sculptors, one potter, one photographer , one textile artist and nine painters. There is a refundable buy-in fee of $350, monthly membership fees of $150 and each member is currently expected to work approximately sixteen hours a month at the gallery. While that may sound onerous they get to keep all of the proceeds from the sale of their work, minus a tiny two per cent commission to cover incidental costs at Art First!

Applications are available at Art First! at 113 First Street. You can also call 250-837-5125 for more information. To see images of the gallery and cooperative members’ work please go to www.artfirst.ca.
