Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on the Trans-Canada about 15 kilometres east of town just after 11 pm Tuesday night.
A statement from the RCMP detachment said that at the time of the accident east-bound traffic was stopped due to an unrelated incident near Golden.
“Two occupants had gotten out of their vehicle and crossed the west-bound lane which was still open to traffic,” the statement said. “When the two went to return to their vehicle a few minutes later, the female stepped into traffic and was struck by a west-bound Dodge pickup truck.”
The 22-year-old woman was from Calgary. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police and the BC Coroner’s office are investigating the incident.
