James Harper (Jim) Robertson 1934-2010

James Harper (Jim) Robertson passed away at Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke on Friday, June 18, 2010 at the age of 76 years.  A Funeral Service will be held at the Revelstoke United Church on Tuesday afternoon, June 29 at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Ken Jones officiating.  Cremation.  Flowers are gratefully declined.  Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Revelstoke Hospice Society, Box 3133, Revelstoke, B.C. V0E 2S0 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1633 Pandosy Street, Kelowna, B.C. V1Y 1P6 in memory of Jim.

Jim was born in St. Thomas, Ontario on April 23, 1934 and had been a resident of Revelstoke since 1971.  Jim started working for C.P. Rail in 1953 and worked as an engineer for most of the 40 years he was employed.  He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, D.O.K.K. and the Nomads.  Jim loved fishing and was an expert rod builder and fly tyer.  If you wanted to know anything about fishing, Jim was the person to ask as he was an extraordinary fisherman.  Jim also was an avid reader who was well versed in many subjects and had a great knowledge of nature.  He was a member of the square dancing group for many years.  Jim was a good member in standing of the McDonald’s Coffee Crew.  He was a very non-judgemental man of great faith who had a tremendous love for all of his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his wife Charlene of Revelstoke; two children: Jennifer Robertson (Chris Petersen) of Campbell River and Reg (Jannine) Wulff of Terrace; three grandchildren: Marcus, Gage and Keaton; sister Betty Slade of London, Ontario as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his good companions, his dogs Muffin and Tuff.
