Domenico Meloro passed away at Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke on Saturday, June 19th, 2010 at the age of 84 years. Prayers will be recited from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Revelstoke on Wednesday evening, June 23rd at 8:00 p.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday morning, June 24 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Ronnie Tagnines celebrant. Interment will follow in the family plot of Mountain View Cemetery, Revelstoke. Pallbearers are Tyler Thompson, Matteo Thompson, Vittorio Cusano, Domenic Marcoffio, Frank Morrone and Olindo Brunetti.
Domenico was born in Bagnoli Irpino, Avellino, Italy on April 1, 1926, and had been a resident of Revelstoke for 59 years, leaving Naples on June 13, 1951 and arriving in Canada on June 22, 1951. Domenico enjoyed mushroom picking, winemaking and canning. He especially loved to be outdoors, as was evidenced by his bountiful vegetable crops that he shared with family and friends. Domenico was a very generous person who was always giving to and helping others. He never had an ill word to say about anyone. Domenico was also a handyman as well as a jokester at times. He loved having a good time and was always joyful. The most important things in Domenico’s life were family, food and friends and as he would say, “everything is beautiful.”
Domenico was predeceased by 11 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife Teresa of Revelstoke; two children: Angela Thompson (Bill Rear) and Jim (Shannon) Meloro, all of Revelstoke; six grandchildren: Tyler Thompson, Matteo Thompson, Terren Meloro, Graicen Meloro, Domenico Meloro and Ava Meloro; sister Maria Rodia in Italy as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many good friends.
