Whether you’re just starting out with a new business or you’ve been in the commercial trenches for a while and are thinking of changing some aspect of your firm, you need good advice.

It doesn’t get much better than Deanne Monroe, Basin Business advisor for the West Kootenay Region.

The Basin Business Advisors Program, sponsored by the Columbia Basin Trust, assists small business operators in the Columbia Basin by providing free one-on-one confidential business counselling, and a contribution to consulting.

Monroe, who works through Steele O’Neil and Associates in Nelson, is responsible for helping businesses from Rossland to Revelstoke.

She currently makes regular Thursday-Friday trips to Revelstoke where she is assisting three clients.

“A lot of people seek support when they are just starting out… but there are established businesses, too, that need advice when they decide they want to review their operations,” Monroe said in an interview.

The Basin Business Advisors Program is funded by the Columbia Basin Trust and was created to build economic capacity in Basin communities by strengthening and supporting existing businesses. Business owners who want her assistance must be  located within the Columbia Basin. They also must be willing to provide all necessary information to the advisor and commit the time needed to ensure that the counselling process is meaningful to the business.
