Vehicles vandalized with acid

Two vehicle owners made startling discoveries on Wednesday when they found someone had dumped some type of acid on their vehicles.

Police received the first report shortly after 9 a.m. on May 5.  A 2010 Toyota FJ had been parked in the 700 block of Mackenzie Avenue when the vandal — or vandals — targeted it.  An acid or paint thinner type liquid had been poured and smeared over the vehicle.

Later that day police received another report of a similar incident which took place in the 200 block of Ninth Street East. In this instance the owner was not sure where it happened but again found an acid type liquid poured on his 1996 Jeep Cherokee.

Police are very concerned about these occurrences and are asking residents to call in any type of suspicious event they may see.  Often it is these types of tips that lead to the arrest of these criminals.
