Another road check conducted on the Trans-Canada Highway has lead to the seizure of 3.5 pounds of marihuana.

Officers were set up Thursday night on the TCH, 10 kilometers east of Revelstoke.  Just after 9 p.m. they checked a GMC Canyon  that had been heading west.  The officer noted an odour of marijuana coming from the interior of the truck which lead to the arrest of the driver and passenger.  The subsequent search located 3.5 lbs of marihuana in ziplock bags along with a hunting knife, bear spray and a small amount of .22-calibre bullets.

The 49-year-old male driver and his 47-year-old passenger, both from Ross River, Yukon, are scheduled to appear in Revelstoke Provincial Court on Sept. 1, 2010 to answer to the charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
