Are you a busker?

By David F. Rooney

Are you now — or have you ever been — a sword swallower, fire breather, street magician, acrobat, clown or some other form of busker? If you are and you know how to entertain families and kids on the street then Heather Duchman wants to hear from you.

Duchman organizes a lot of public activities here in town from her desk at the Community Centre and she is really interested in finding local residents who can busk.

Her level of interest in finding local street entertainers took a major jump recently when she looked into finding buskers for the upcoming Canada Day celebration in town.

“This one fellow wanted $2,500,” she said. “That’s a little out of our league.”

And Duchman does have a budget for entertainment for Canada Day. It’s not huge. But she can find some cash for the right people with the right skills.
