This award was presented to me by the Funeral Association but is based on the positive comments received by the association from the families that I have had the privilege to serve. Yes, a ‘privilege’ to serve, that is how we feel. Chrissie and I truly feel we are privileged to be able to serve in our capacity as funeral directors in the Revelstoke and Golden areas. And yes… this award belongs to my wife Chrissie as much as it belongs to me.
Now for a very special award. Chrissie and I looked after the funeral arrangements of a young man who died as a result of a motor vehicle accident back in 2005. His wife was obviously distraught at the time and with gentle guidance we were able to assist her to carry out the funeral as she thought he would have approved of. About two years ago I received an e-mail from this lady thanking me for the positive influence on her life and assuring me that because of the way we were able to assist her at the time of her husband’s passing she was now enrolled in the Canadian College of Funeral Service and working through her apprenticeship. On Friday, April 23, Chrissie and I will be present at her graduating ceremonies… to us a very special award.
