Come on kids — name that marmot!

What name do YOU think a marmot should have, especially the Okanagan Regional Library’s new children’s mascot — Marvin, Melvin, Minnie, Maggie?

The Library’s Name the Marmot contest is wrapping up on April 30, so children who want to suggest names for the local critter should visit the ORL website soon. The ORL unveiled its new children’s mascot in February when the new website was launched. The animated marmot can be seen at www.orl.bc.ca/kids.

Children aged 3-15 years old can enter up to six suggestions online. So far, there are over 750 names entered. In May, the public will have an opportunity see the entries and vote on a short-listed top ten.

The winning name will be announced at the end of May, and the winner will receive a customized gift pack valued at $200 created by ORL’s librarians suitable for the winner’s age, gender and location.
