Mile-High Ball Hockey was a blast

By David F. Rooney

If you didn’t attend Sunday’s Mile-High Ball Hockey Game on Mount Mackenzie then you missed a great opportunity to enjoy a different aspect of the mountain and have some great fun, too.

The game, sponsored by the Revelstoke Hockeyville Committee and Revelstoke Mountain Resort, was the last event of the community’s Hockeyville campaign and Committee Chairman Gary McLaughlin says he has his fingers crossed.

“Oh, they’re crossed, all right,” he said as he took a break from the ball hockey game. “We’ve done everything we could to ensure Revelstoke has a shot at becoming Hockeyville 2010. On Monday, March 15, we’ll find out if it worked.”

McLaughlin had high praise for the work of the committee’s volunteers. Dennis Berarducci, Garth Elrick, Eric Scarcella, Catherine Bell, Edie Schleiss, Maria Stagliano and many others worked hard to make the campaign a success. Businesses, too, got behind the campaign and McLaughlin appreciated their support.

Now it’s out of Revelstoke’s hands. Come on out to the Regent on Monday, March 15, at 6 pm to see if we’ll move forward in the national Kraft Hockeyville Contest.

In the meantime, here are some photos from the Mile-High Ball Hockey game. There is also a video on the front of The Current.
