Happy springtime, seniors!

On Wednesday, March 24, we had a Dinner In and games night afterwards. The Dinner In was catered by the United Church Ladies and we had 64 members present. A huge thank you to the ladies, dinner was fantastic. About half of the members stayed for the games night. Everyone had a great time trying out all the different activities offered at the Centre. A huge thank you to all the members who organized these events, and assisted in teaching the different activities. We hope to do this again in the future.

The Mammography Van will be at the Centre from Tuesday, April 6, until Saturday, April 10, so the computer lab will be closed during this time. We apologize for any inconvenience. We are happy that we can provide the space for this service.

Our General Meeting is Thursday, April 8, at 1:30 pm at the Centre. Please plan on attending. You may want to come a bit early to read through the materials that will be presented at the meeting. Also, we will be having two guest speakers, Steve Hui and Kevin Lavelle from Community Futures coming to talk with us about the program.

April’s Birthday Party will be held on Wednesday, April 21, at 3 pm so come and visit with friends and help us celebrate those members big day.

The Executive/Directors would like to wish everyone a very safe and Happy Easter.

The Dinner Out for April will be on Wednesday, April 28,  at 5:30 pm. Please watch the bulletin boards for the sign up sheet, cutoff date for signing up, and also where we will be having it for the month of April.

We have completed a full set of computer classes in a very wide variety of topics, so please watch the bulletin boards for details for the next set of classes, the topics that will be offered and the sign up sheets. The classes will resume in late April so please watch for it.

Reminders that we still have some members who have not renewed their membership for 2010, and we would love to have you return. At this time the Executive/Directors would like to welcome all of our newest members to date for 2010, and we look forward to seeing you all at our activities and events.

As most members are aware we now have a Policy Committee and they are looking for ideas, suggestions etc on the policies for the Centre, so if you have any suggestions or ideas please feel free to put them in writing and give them to any member of the Executive/Directors, or in the slot in the office door.

DID YOU KNOW: That our local library has some fantastic resources for grandparents. There are movies for our grandchildren, movies for us, TV series, cassette books we can use either in our vehicles when driving or for just listening to at home. I found some of the CDs available for our grandchildren to be really helpful with crafts, and different things that they like to watch. So please stop by the local library and take a look at all it has to offer us as well as our grandchildren when they are visiting.

Remember this is your column, I am only the writer, so if you have a specific topic you want in the column or you want to be a guest writer please let me know and I will do my utmost best to accommodate you.

At this time the Executive/Directors would like to say that we are looking forward to seeing each and everyone of the members at our activities and events especially now with the much better weather.

I personally want to wish everyone a very safe and Happy Easter, and a very safe and happy spring and I look forward to seeing you all at the Centre.
