Court report

By David F. Rooney

Some people nailed for impaired driving just want to get it over with and save everyone a lot of time and trouble. They invariably plead guilty. Others, for whatever reason, plead not guilty.

Here are some of the guilty pleas lodged before Judge Mark Takahashi in Provincial Court last week: Julian Pettinanti-Callotte, fined $1,000 and given a one-year suspension; Edward Burke, fined $500 and given a one-year suspension; Chris Barry, fined $1,000 and given a 12-month suspension and probation; and Daniel Lee of Calgary, fined $1,500 and given a one-year suspension.

Then there was Eric Allen who pleaded not guilty to possession of stolen property and not guilty to driving while prohibited, impaired driving and driving over the legal blood-alcohol limit. His next appearance will be Feb. 2.
