A public thank you from Torchbearer Lachlan Hicks

I would like to take this opportunity to say what an honour it was to be the final torch bearer in the torch relay for Revelstoke.

As you may have noticed, I was a little lost for words up on stage! This was because it was such an overwhelming experience. I looked out into the crowd and saw so many supportive community members out there bearing the Olympic spirit and I was quite taken by it. So, because I didn’t get the opportunity to show my appreciation on stage, I will do it now.

I would like to thank the local Torch Relay Committee for selecting me to carry the torch. I felt very fortunate to be chosen considering that there were so many other great candidates amongst the youth in this community. It was also such an exciting moment to have received the flame from a past Olympian, John McInnes.

I would also like to thank the community for not only supporting me but for supporting everyone who is involved in youth sport.

GO CANADA GO!
