Speedy local kids prepare for Apex Resort Down Hill and Super G

The Revelstoke Ski Club held a speed camp this past weekend for K1 racers  (12 and13 yr olds) K2 racers (14 and 15 year olds) and J racers (15+ yr olds)  at Revelstoke Mountain Resort.

According to ski parent and club executive member Toff Hicks this Super G training was the first speed training for the K2 racers this year and is helping prepare them for their upcoming Provincial Race in Panorama Feb 4 – 7.

For many of the first year K1 racers this was their first experience on a speed course.

As confidence grew through the weekend each of the racers demonstrated tremendous growth as they launched over the rollers and maneuvered around the gates.

Coach Ned Lazaveric described this weekend’s hard packed groomed conditions as perfect for this type of camp.  The Revelstoke Ski Club FIS racers have been busy at Apex Resort this past week preparing them for their upcoming Down Hill and Super G events at the same resort this coming Monday to Thursday.
