Who will be the first person to take the Polar Plunge? Will it be you? Do you dare?

If you’re considering it, but you’re worried about, ah, shrinkage, think about this: undeniable bragging rights as the hardiest and bravest person in town. The other thing you should consider is that a quick dip in the pool, which has been built in front of the Community Centre, will almost certainly shock the New Year’s Eve toxins right out of your system. If you were feeling sluggish and wonky before going in, you’ll absolutely be ready to party hearty again after a 30-second Polar Plunge.

The Polar Plunge was dreamed up by the intrepid members of the Revelstoke and District Humane Society and I am sure they will all be out in their bikinis and Speedos to take The Plunge themselves.

People will begin plunging at 1 pm on New Year’s Day. There will be prizes for the oldest and youngest plungers, the best costumes (yes, they’d like to see outrageous costumes), the longest plunge and most money raised by a plunger. The event runs until 4 pm.
