If you are one of those people who thinks talking on your cell phone or texting someone while driving is okay, then please pay attention to the following information.
On Jan. 1, 2010, changes to the Motor Vehicles Act take effect making it illegal to use your cell phone while driving your vehicle. Using a hands-free phone in your car is fine, but driving with a phone glued to one ear or while texting someone is a major no-no. As of Feb. 1, a driver caught talking on a hand-held phone or electronic device will be fined $167.
In addition, drivers caught texting or e-mailing will be subject to three penalty points.
