Kids’ Halloween generosity pays off for the Food Bank

Raine Carnegie (center, right) had a great idea: why not use the Halloween trick-or-treating tradition to help the Food Bank. Well it worked out extremely well. He and his friends (from left to right) Geordie Orom, Chloe Hale, his mom Krista and little brother Leif, Lauren and Samara Channell and Jess Reid gathered almost 900 kilograms of canned and packaged non-perishable food items. About half of the goods were donated by the generous kids at Mount Begbie School. The rest was picked up by all these kids trick-or-treating. Food Bank Coordinator Patti Larson couldn't be present for this photo event so Roger Bertrand (extreme right) stood in for her. Way to go kids! David F. Rooney photo
