The Revelstoke Grizzlies devoured the Chase Chiefs 8-1 in KIJHL hockey action at The Forum on Friday.
The local boys began chowing down on the Chiefs with a power play at 11:48 when Dayton Martens scored with assists from Jordan Bledsoe and Caleb Lister. The team scored again three minutes later when Reid Blinkhorn zipped in and, with Caleb Lister, slipped the puck past Chiefs’ goalie Riley Wall.
The second period was an ugly one for Chase. Martens started the scoring early in the period with an unassisted goal at 18:30. Blinkhorn followed a minute later with another goal, assisted by Alex Spadoni. Then Caleb Roy scored at 11:29 on a power play, helped along by Luke Richardson and Lucas Blinkhorn. Revelstoke’s sixth goal came from Kris Powell at the 3:36 mark, assisted by Lucas Blinkhorn.
Chase scored its one lonely little goal with 2:55 remaining in the period.
In the third period, Caleb Roy scored on a power play at 6:46 on a pass from Kris Powell. Powell finished the scoring for the vening with a goal at 1:15 from Brendan Burge.
Powel, Lister and Martens were the game’s First, Second and Third Stars, respectively.
There were 30 penalties handed out in this game — 15 to each team. Chase goalie Riley Wall was pummelled by 44 shots on goal, managing to make 36 saves. Revelstoke’s Andrew Parent made 26 saves out of 27 shots on goal.
