Big Eddy resident Ramona Shaw was out walking her dog on the flood control dyke along the Columbia River when the perfect Hockeyville slogan danced through her mind.
“We were just walking along when it hit me: ‘The story begins and ends on the ice,’” she said after learning that her submssion, one of 34 received by the committee, had been selected as the winner… with one minor tweak. The committee decided to alter it to read: “‘R’ story begins and ends on the ice.”
“This is a great slogan,” said Committee Chairman Gary McLaughlin. “It expresses everything we want. It includes our community, the notion of a story and alludes to hockey. It’s perfect.”
The committee is now asking all Revelstokians who support its bid for Hockeyville status — and the $100,000 in upgrades to the local arena that could result if Revelstoke wins — to come out to the Forum at 1 pm sharp on Sunday for two special photo sessions with award-winning photographer Kip Wiley.
Everyone in town will eventually be asked to help out with photos and or personal anecdotes about hockey but these photo sessions will be key underpinnings to the committee’s initial bid. If you love hockey, the Forum and Revelstoke don’t miss this event.
