Bernice Kelly passed away at Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke on Thursday, October 15th, 2009 at the age of 82 years. There will be no formal funeral service by Bernice’s own request. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Revelstoke Humane Society, Box 340, Revelstoke, B.C. V0E 2S0, in memory of Bernice.
Bernice was born in Revelstoke, B.C. on September 20, 1927 and lived here most of her life. She worked as an LPN (nurse) at Queen Victoria Hospital for 22½ years, first starting in the “old” hospital on First Street West in 1960 and later moving to the “new” QVH in Arrow Heights where she worked until retirement in 1982. She was an animal lover and had given homes to many stray dogs and cats, and in her younger years she liked hiking. She enjoyed taking her dogs for walks, working in her yard, spending time in the outdoors and star watching. She had a deep appreciation for music and singing and liked to watch “Canucks” hockey games and the “Grand Ole’ Opry” on T.V. Bernice also liked to write poetry and recite poetry.
Bernice was predeceased by her father Stanley in 1972, mother Myrtle in 1992, sister Noreen Munroe and brother Stanley Munroe Jr. She leaves to mourn one son David Bruce Kelly of Revelstoke; brother Richard (Val) Munroe of Revelstoke and their children Tanya and Donald (Val); sister-in-law Elsie Munroe of Revelstoke and her children Gloria, Raymond, Norman, Shannon and Murray; cousins Wendy Allum, Frank Cavanaugh, Kathleen Cavanaugh, Ken McKenzie, Peggy McKenzie and cousins Sherrie and Aunt Flo Clark in Kanata, Ontario, and cousin Shirley and Bob ward in Burlington, N.B., and by her pets “Buddy” and Duchess”, who will sadly miss her.
Cremation arrangements were in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke.
