Fire Chief Rob Girard (left) poses with professional firefighter Dan Hutchison who recently received a medal and plaque from the Office of the Fire Commissioner in recognition of his commitment to fire safety in the City of Revelstoke. In a letter of appreciation, Fire Commissioner Rebecca Denlinger congratulated Hutchison for attaining this milestone and thanked him for his contribution to the Fire Service. In addition, Denlinger also expressed appreciation for individuals like Dan who make British Columbia a safe place to live. For his part, Girard described Hutchison’s career as “a success story for others within our service to benchmark them to." Firefighter Hutchison began his service with the Revelstoke Fire Department in April 1984 and became a Career Firefighter in 1995. When asked what his most memorable emergency in his career is, Dan responded with “the King Edward Hotel fire and more specifically the couple of close calls that the fire presented several members of the department.” Photo courtesy of the Revelstoke Fire Department
