Actions speak louder than words when the Beta Sigma Phi sorority is involved

Two of the women of Beta Sigma Phi, Donna Lecompte (second from the left) and Bonnie Teed (second from the right) pose with representatives from three local organization they have assisted this fall through timely cash infusions: Anne Corrie, co-ordinator of the Community Connections Youth program (left), Brenda Kessler, executive director of the Revelstoke Hospice Society and Nelli Richardson, executive director of the Women;s Shelter representing Community Response Network Co-ordinator Mengia Nicholson. The international sorority donated $500 to the Youth Program and $250 each to Hospice and CRN. Corrie said she'll use the money to defray the costs of feeding the kids who attend the afternoon youth program activities. Kessler said the money will go towards the purchase of a new medical mattress for patients in the Hospice Room at Queen Victoria Hospital while Richardson said Nicholson plans to use her money to keep local CRN programs going in the wake of provincial funding cuts. Lecompte and Teed said the sorority was very pleased it could assist three organizations. It is also planning a major fund-raiser this month: the THRILLusion Magic Show at RSS on Oct. 15 at 7 pm (please click on the Big Box ad in the Community Section to find out more about this great local event).
