Zumba was born in Colombia in the 1990s when fitness trainer, "Beto" Perez forgot his usual aerobics music tapes and had to improvise using his favourite music — Colombian salsa and merengue. His improvisation proved to be a hit and thus was born the revolutionary fitness program – Zumba! David F. Rooney photoThe dance-like Zumba appeals to young and old. The class at the Community Centre has members who range in age from under ten to over 50. David F. It's an odd-sounding name but it definitely captures the imagination — and the body. David F. Rooney photo
