Revelstoke Football Club clinched a key game today in their drive for the North Okanagan League Championship beating Vernon Turnkey by a score of 2-0.

But it could have turned out somewhat differently. The hometown boys made a number of mistakes and sloppy plays that gave Turnkey a number of fortunately blown scoring opportunities but in the end they settled down and eventually prevailed in the second half with goals by Jesse Anchikoski and Matt Robinson.

“They gave us trouble because of our mistakes — not because they dominated us,” said team captain Sergio Spataro.

He credited not only the two goal scorers, but Rory Luxmoore and Landon Fuscaldo for their cool heads and intense focus on the game.

“Landon played a really good game and Rory, well, he just gives and gives,” Spataro said.

The win propels RFC into the semi-final round. They will play Winfield at Macdonald Field in Vernon on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
