Parks Canada seeks backcountry use opinions

Parks Canada is seeking public opinion on the ways that the backcountry is utilized in Mount Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks.

Backcountry users are invited to a public workshop on how backcountry areas should be managed. It is also an opportunity for Parks Canada to provide an update on the winter permit program.

Two Backcountry Workshops will be held. The first is at the Revelstoke Community Centre on Monday, Aug. 24, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. The second is at the Golden Seniors’ Centre on Tuesday, Aug. 25, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Anyone with a specific topic they would like discussed should e-mail their suggestions to MRG.Planning@pc.gc.ca by noon on Thursday, Aug. 20.

Backcountry users can also review background information on the park website: http://www.pc.gc.ca.

For more information, call Parks Canada’s Revelstoke office at 250-837-7500. You can also see a copy of the current management plan at http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/docs/v-g/bc/glacier/pd-mp/toc-tdm.aspx
