A Grand Magic Lantern Show planned for the Nickelodeon Museum will delight and amaze audiences. Magic lanterns were a popular form of entertainment in the 19th and very early 20th century before the proliferation of movie theatres and, later, radio and television.
The shows are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at at 7:30 p.m. and will include the Creation of the World and an explanation of how the lantern was used, including a range of rare slides including dissolving views, rotating slides, moving slides of various kinds, a water tank slide etc, and also a rare set of Canadian Pacific Railway slides used to promote the CPR in Europe as a tourist attraction.
