Four Revelstoke athletes competed in the Salmon Arm Olympic Distance Triathlon this past Sunday and two of them won medals.

Anne-Marie Gill took second place and Sarah Newton also of Revelstoke got third. Kathleen Wood of Kelowna won first place,
“It was super hot, 38° Celsius by the end of the race, which consists of a 1,500-metre swim, a 1-kilometre run and a 40-km bike race,” Newton said in a statement. ” The race had over 70 participants from Alberta and BC, it is notable that this is Gill’s second triathlon ever. She comes from a strong running background but had an excellent swim and bike to put her into second place. Wood is a top Canadian ironman finisher for her age group.”
Newton herself is a noted local runner and cyclist.
The other Revelstoke competitors were Sally Carmichael, and Gabriella Draboczi.This was their first Olympic distance triathlon.
