And so it begins for another winter…

Of course! We get the first real now fall of the year and Highway One is close in both directions — probably until at least 2 pm — because of an accident West of town. The DriveBC online map of our region is lit up like a Christmas tree with every symbol imaginable. Fortunately for drivers only the Trans-Canada and Highway 5 are currently closed. Highway 5 was closed due to "a material spill" at Larson Hill. If you are planning on travelling out of Revelstoke you will certainly want to keep checking DriveBC because the situation could change in the course of the day. Photo courtesy of DrveBC

The photo shows the lineup of vehicles in Rogers Pass. The DriveBC online map of our region is lit up like a Christmas tree with every symbol imaginable. Fortunately for drivers, only the Trans-Canada and Highway 5 northbound are currently closed. Highway 5 North was closed due to “a material spill” at Larson Hill. There is no time given for its reopening.
