Laying the Children’s Ghosts to Rest

Sean Arthur Joyce gave a presentation on Tuesday evening, October 21, about the 100,000 children from penniless British families who were given away by their families to social agencies that shipped them to Canada as indentured labourers between 1869 and 1948. Those 100,000 children are the ancestors of an estimated 4,000,000 Canadian citizens today. The West Kootenay journalist, poet and historian's made his very interesting presentation to small crowd at the Revelstoke Museum & Archives. His book, Laying the Children's Ghosts to Rest, is on sale at the Museum and at Grizzly Books.
