Rest in Peace, Marlene

By David F. Rooney

With the passing of Marlene McQuarrie this week, Revelstoke has lost one of its finest and best-loved citizens.

Marlene was not only a wise woman of Christian faith and strong moral character but, through her involvement with the Royal Canadian Legion, a pillar of the annual Remembrance Day ceremonies.

She will be deeply missed by all who met and admired her. Please click here to read her official obituary.

Here is a small collection of photos of Marlene that have appeared in The Current:

Marlene liked to say she went through by flying below the radar of public attention. That could well be so, but this moment when MLA Norm Macdonald presented her with a Queen's Jubilee Medal after the 2012 Remembrance Day ceremony was certainly a highlight, bringing both a smile to her lips and tear to her eye.
